Story Summary

Jayadratha, the king of Sindhu, visits the Pandavas in their forest exile. When he sees Draupadi, he is immediately captivated by her beauty and makes a dishonorable proposal. Draupadi firmly rejects him, but Jayadratha, consumed by lust and arrogance, attempts to abduct her by force while the Pandavas are away hunting. Alerted to the danger, the Pandavas rush to rescue Draupadi. What follows is a fierce confrontation where Jayadratha is soundly defeated and humiliated—his head shaved as a mark of disgrace. This encounter creates a dangerous enemy, as Jayadratha vows revenge. He will play a crucial role in the future war, making this moment significant for the epic's later events.
