The Killing of Jarasandha

An impossible warrior. A deadly secret. The strength to break him apart.

Story Summary

After deciding to perform the Rajasuya sacrifice, Yudhishthira learns that Jarasandha, the powerful king of Magadha, has imprisoned eighty-six kings and blocks their path to imperial status. Krishna, Bhima, and Arjuna undertake a dangerous mission to eliminate this obstacle. Disguised as brahmins, they challenge Jarasandha to single combat. When Jarasandha chooses Bhima as his opponent, an epic wrestling match ensues—but Jarasandha has a terrible secret: born split in two and joined together, he can regenerate from any wound. Only by tearing him apart and throwing the pieces in opposite directions can Bhima defeat him. This victory liberates the imprisoned kings and clears the path for Yudhishthira's Rajasuya sacrifice.
