The Iron Bolt Prophecy

As the ominous signs continue in Dwaraka, a group of sages visits the city. Samba, Krishna's son, in a moment of foolish mockery, disguises himself as a pregnant woman and asks the sages what child he will bear. The insulted sages, angered by this disrespect, pronounce a terrible curse: an iron bolt will be born that will destroy the Yadava clan. Krishna, understanding the gravity of the curse, accepts it with resignation, knowing that this prophecy will be fulfilled. The iron bolt is ground into powder and thrown into the sea, but the sages prophesy that it will grow into reeds that will become clubs—the very weapons that will bring about the Yadava destruction.

Story Summary

As the ominous signs continue in Dwaraka, a group of sages visits the city. Samba, Krishna's son, in a moment of foolish mockery, disguises himself as a pregnant woman and approaches the sages, asking them what child he will bear. The insulted sages, angered by this disrespect toward their wisdom, pronounce a terrible curse: an iron bolt will be born that will destroy the Yadava clan. Krishna, understanding the gravity of the curse and its connection to Gandhari's earlier curse, accepts it with resignation, knowing that this prophecy will be fulfilled. The iron bolt is created, ground into powder, and thrown into the sea, but the sages prophesy that it will grow into reeds along the shore, and these reeds will become clubs—the very weapons that will bring about the fratricidal destruction of the Yadavas. This story sets the stage for the tragic events that will unfold, showing how a moment of foolish mockery leads to a curse that cannot be undone.
