Bhagavad Gita Chapter 7, Verse 8
रसोऽहमप्सु कौन्तेय प्रभास्मि शशिसूर्ययोः | प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः खे पौरुषं नृषु ||
raso 'ham apsu kaunteya prabhāsmi śaśi-sūryayoḥ praṇavaḥ sarva-vedeṣu śabdaḥ khe pauruṣaṁ nṛṣu
O son of Kunti, I am the taste in water, the light of the sun and the moon, the syllable Om in all the Vedas, the sound in ether, and the ability in humans.
Krishna begins describing His manifestations in the natural world. 'Raso 'ham apsu'—I am the taste in water. 'Prabhāsmi śaśi-sūryayoḥ'—I am the light of the sun and moon. 'Praṇavaḥ sarva-vedeṣu'—I am the syllable Om in all the Vedas. 'Śabdaḥ khe'—I am the sound in ether. 'Pauruṣaṁ nṛṣu'—I am the ability in humans. This verse shows Krishna manifesting in the most fundamental aspects of existence—taste, light, sound, sacred vibration, human capability. He's not just present in nature—He is the essence of nature itself. This connects to verse 7.7's teaching that everything is strung on Krishna, showing how He manifests in everyday experience.
