Krishna reveals the nature of the Supreme abode: 'Na tad bhāsayate sūryo na śaśāṅko na pāvakaḥ'—that abode is not illumined by the sun, moon, or fire. In the material world, everything is illumined by external sources—sun during day, moon at night, fire for light. But the Supreme abode is self-illumined. It doesn't need external light because it's the source of light itself. 'Yad gatvā na nivartante'—having gone there, one never returns. This is permanent refuge—not temporary escape, but permanent liberation. 'Tad dhāma paramaṁ mama'—that is My supreme abode. This is Krishna's own abode—not a distant place, but the abode of the Supreme Person. When you cut the tree and take refuge, you reach this abode. It's self-illumined (not dependent on material light), permanent (no return), and supreme (the highest). This is the goal of the entire teaching—not just cutting entanglement, but reaching the Supreme abode.
