Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11, Verse 40
नमः पुरस्तादथ पृष्ठतस्ते नमोऽस्तु ते सर्वत एव सर्व | अनन्तवीर्यामितविक्रमस्त्वं सर्वं समाप्नोषि ततोऽसि सर्वः ||
namaḥ purastād atha pṛṣṭhatas te namo 'stu te sarvata eva sarva ananta-vīryāmita-vikramas tvaṁ sarvaṁ samāpnoṣi tato 'si sarvaḥ
Salutations to You from the front, and from behind, salutations to You from all sides, O all. You are of infinite power and immeasurable prowess. You pervade everything; therefore You are all.
Arjuna offers salutations from all directions, recognizing Krishna's all-pervading nature. 'Namaḥ purastād atha pṛṣṭhatas te'—salutations (namas) to You (te) from the front (purastāt), and (atha) from behind (pṛṣṭhataḥ). 'Namo 'stu te sarvata eva sarva'—salutations (namas) to You (te), let there be (astu), from all sides (sarvataḥ), indeed (eva), O all (sarva). 'Ananta-vīryāmita-vikramas tvaṁ'—You (tvam) are of infinite (ananta) power (vīrya) and immeasurable (amita) prowess (vikramaḥ). 'Sarvaṁ samāpnoṣi tato 'si sarvaḥ'—You pervade (samāpnoṣi) everything (sarvam), therefore (tataḥ) You are (asi) all (sarvaḥ). Arjuna recognizes that Krishna is all-pervading—from front, behind, all sides—and therefore is everything. Because Krishna pervades everything, he is everything. This verse shows Arjuna's complete recognition of Krishna's all-pervading nature and prepares for his request to see the original form.
