Krishna begins His enumeration by revealing His most fundamental manifestation: 'Aham ātmā'—I am the Self. 'Sarva-bhūtāśaya-sthitaḥ'—seated in the hearts of all beings. Krishna is the Self (ātmā) that dwells within every creature. This is the foundation: before listing specific manifestations, Krishna reveals that He is the Self in all beings. 'Aham ādiś ca madhyaṁ ca bhūtānām anta eva ca'—I am the beginning, the middle, and the end of all beings. Krishna is not just present in beings—He is their beginning (ādi), middle (madhya), and end (anta). This shows His complete presence: He is the source from which beings arise, the presence that sustains them, and the end toward which they return. This is the most fundamental manifestation: the Self in everything.
How this ancient wisdom applies to your daily life

This verse reveals that Krishna is the Self seated in the hearts of all beings, and He is the beginning, middle, and end of all beings. When you recognize the Self in all beings, you see differently. You're not seeing separate beings—you're recognizing the Self manifesting in each. The Self is the beginning (source), the middle (presence), and the end (completion) of all beings. This transforms how you see others: not as separate from you, but as the same Self manifesting in different forms. The question isn't whether beings exist—it's whether you recognize the Self in them.

Where are you seeing beings as separate from you? Do you recognize the Self in all beings? How does recognizing the Self in all beings change how you see others?
